Never had one but they chemically alter the bonds in the hair. They're said to "last" up to 6 months - but it'd not that the hair returns to normal after that - the hair is too grown out or starts to frizz after that.
Perm is short for permanent after all.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I guess I'm def gonna steer clear from this stuff, my hair is already dry and brittle without having been exposed to heat or chemical treatments. 🤡

I had a perm as a teen (before I was aware I had wavy/curly hair). I had to grow it out. It was awful and my hair felt like straw until I was ready to chop it off after 1 1/2 years.

I’ve been really interested in the digital perms but whenever I bring it up people say it does not last, is this true or ?

What type of salon could you get this?

Nope - up to a year typically. I get a boujee digital perm (I think it’s originally a Japanese technique but my studio is Korean run) for that “effortless wave” vibe and it lasts about 9 months to a year.

Do perms actually stay forever as well? Im sorry 🤡 but since im naturally curly haired and broke + straight hair being the actual beauty standard in my country (north african so wavy/curly/kinky hair are pretty common here and usually not well liked), im not familiar with how perms work.

It's basically a perm - but straight.

Does your hair literally stay straight for good (aside from the roots) ? Is it super damaged or straight in a nice way like natural straight hair?

Haha yeah, my hair is curly about to my shoulders and then straight down to my boobs. It’s not my fav look but curly hair takes sooo long to get long again that I’d rather make it work
